PRIVACY POLICY
How we handle your information.
The short version. We only collect what you give us. We use it to reply to you and do the work you ask for. We do not sell it. We do not run ad trackers on this site. You can ask to see, fix or delete it at any time. Email hello@stilesy.com.
1. Who we are
Stilesy is an Australian business run from Queensland. We build websites, make and post content, and provide a customer app and tech support for small businesses. This policy explains how we handle personal information under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). We follow the APPs even where the law does not require a business of our size to.
2. What we collect
When you visit this website
- Server logs. Our hosting provider records the time of your visit, the pages you open, your IP address and your browser type. This is standard for every website and is used only to keep the site running and secure.
- Browser storage. The site remembers small choices on your own device, such as which example business you picked in the demo. This stays on your device and is never sent to us.
- No trackers. Right now this site has no analytics, no advertising pixels and no third-party cookies. If we add analytics later, we will update this page first and use a privacy-respecting tool.
When you contact us
- Your name, business name, email address, phone number and whatever you write in your message or project note.
- The "Write a note" tool on this site saves a draft to your own device only. Nothing is sent to us until you choose to send it to us by email.
When you become a client
- Details needed to do the work: your business details, ABN, website and account logins you choose to share, billing details, and the content you give us to edit and post.
- Information inside your customer app, such as your customers' names, contact details, messages, jobs, invoices and notes. You own this information. We handle it on your behalf and only to provide the service.
The demo app on this site
Every person, business, message and number in the demo is made up. Nothing you type into the demo is saved or sent anywhere. It clears when you reload the page.
3. Why we collect it
- To reply to you and answer your questions.
- To quote, plan and deliver the work you ask for.
- To run, secure and improve this website and our services.
- To send invoices and keep the records the law requires us to keep.
- To send you news or offers about our services, only if you have agreed to receive them. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) requires.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the services we use to run the business, and only as much as they need:
| Service | What for | Where the data is held |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud | Hosting this website and our apps | Singapore and other Google regions |
| Namecheap | Our domain and email inbox | United States and Europe |
| Email and text sending services | Sending the emails and texts our apps send for clients | Australia, Singapore and the United States, depending on the service |
| Payment providers | Taking payments and issuing invoices | Australia and the United States |
| Social media platforms | Posting content a client has approved | Each platform's own policy applies |
We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
5. Overseas disclosure
Some of the services above store data outside Australia, mainly in Singapore and the United States. By using this site or our services you agree to that. We choose providers with strong security and we only send what the service needs. Under APP 8, we remain responsible for how those providers handle your information.
6. How we keep it safe
- Client accounts and files are kept separate from each other.
- Access is limited to the people who need it for the work.
- Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Logins that you share with us are stored in a password manager, never in plain text.
- If we ever have a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.
7. How long we keep it
We keep contact details and client records for as long as we work together, and for up to 7 years after for tax and legal records. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed. If you leave, you can take your customer data with you first. See our Terms of Use.
8. Your rights
- Access. Ask us what we hold about you.
- Correction. Ask us to fix anything that is wrong.
- Deletion. Ask us to delete it, unless the law says we must keep it.
- Unsubscribe. Stop marketing emails or texts at any time using the link or STOP word in each message.
- No name. You can deal with us without giving your name, where that is practical.
Email hello@stilesy.com. We reply within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
9. Complaints
If you think we have handled your information badly, tell us first and we will try to fix it. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the OAIC at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
10. Children
Our services are for businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think we have, email us and we will delete it.
11. Changes
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. Big changes, like adding analytics, get a note on the home page as well.
